DirtX RD7 Report

What a ripper of a day....

I trust that all those who made thier way up the freeway for RD7 of our DirtX series enjoyed themselves. We were greated by a pretty foggy conditions that had everyone peerring through the fence to see what the track was like. Well when the fog lifted, we saw that the track was imaculately groomed, full of jumps, undulation and technical sections....different from many of the other tracks we had ridden this year.

Before I go on....A big thank you to the team at Cessnock mini bike club for allowing us to use thier complex, and for the fantastic track preparation that the had carried out....it certainly made for a great day of racing.

We had 140+ riders on the day, and many of our fields are nearing capacity. In fact in the 12-u16 85cc class we had exactly 30 riders (the maximum allowable on the grid at Cessnock), one more rider and we would have had to split the field into separate AB and C grade races.

We got through 4 rounds of racing pretty much on time (our aim is always for a 4:00pm to 4:30pm finish) with no incidents, accidents and some great competition out on the track.

Our next round of the DirtX series was to be an enduro sprint round, however due to ongoing (and taking longer than hoped) negotiations with Blue Mountains city council, we have had to shelve those ideas for the moment. So RD8 of the DirtX on 8 August will take us back to where this year all began - Appin for another MX round. I will update the calendar and provide some driving directions for all those who have not been there before.

In the meantime, we also have our minikhana championships coming up - so a big encouragement to all those juniors to get out, support the club and give it a go. If you have not tried minikhana before please see separate news item on minikhana training
